A few minutes ago, someone published on Facebook asking if websites under gov.mg domain name can be opened. All comments on this post, at the time I’m writing these lines, confirm this troubleshoot : all malagasy government websites are offline.
And again, all malagasy government websites are down. But anyone can explain ? At this time, nobody has seen official announcement. But after some tests, I can give a small technical conclusion.
Indeed, by solving gov.mg, www.gov.mg and www.presidence.gov.mg by DNS is simply impossible. Everything leads us to believe that the DNS server is disconnected from the Internet network. And this, since probably a long time because even if a DNS server is inaccessible, caches of Internet providers all over the world takes generally up to 72 hours to detect this bug. And because the web server is under CentOS (according to my memories, the www.gov.mg page displayed with CentOS’s Apache default page during a maintenance period), we can think that the DNS server runs with the famous daemon named bind. A very good software, except when it is not up-to-date.
In any case, hope that those responsible will be informed quickly. Passing quickly through a WHOIS, I wanted a email to alert them but the WHOIS don’t tell me this kind of information.
